Freedom of press is a fundament of a constitutional democracy. Granting groups and individuals within a society equal opportunity to put forward their viewpoints and to be able to be publicly critical about those in powerfull positions is the best guarantee against corruption and misuse of power. Those in power should realize that one of the best signs of the fairness of their laws is that they themselves would still support it if they would be in the position in which their political opponents are now. It is my personal impression that Fidesz would not agree with this law if a 2/3rd majority of socialists would install this commission.
Therefore I urge them to withdraw this law and go back to their original cause: the strive for a society that is equally free for everyone!
