#104 Közlemény a Lukács Archívum Nemzetközi Alapítvány (LANA) megalakulásáról

 Új, nemzetközi alapítvány jött létre a Lukács Archívum körül kialakult helyzet és annak széleskörű visszhangja nyomán. 

A LANA felkért kuratóriumi elnöke és alelnöke ezúton tájékoztatja a Lukács Archívum fennmaradása és Lukács György szellemi örökségének ápolása iránt elkötelezett személyeket és szervezeteket, valamint a LANA reménybeli támogatóit és a szélesebb nyilvánosságot az Alapítvány létrehozásáról.

A LANA célja, hogy támogassa a Lukács Archívum folyamatos és megújuló működését, elősegítse Lukács György hagyatékának szakszerű gondozását és közzétételét, s ösztönözze a Lukács munkásságával foglalkozó hazai és nemzetközi tudományos műhelyek közötti együttműködést.

A LANA a tudományszervezés különböző eszközeivel (így nemzetközi konferenciák szervezésével és tudományos pályázatok kiírásával) általában is elő kívánja mozdítani a Lukács életművére és annak történeti összefüggéseire vonatkozó kutatásokat.             

A LANA alapítói Heller Ágnes és Weiss János.            

Az alapítók által felkért kuratórium eddigi tagjai: Kelemen János akadémikus (elnök), Szigeti Péter DSc (alelnök), Takács Ádám PhD (titkár), továbbá Agárdi Péter CSc, Boros Gábor DSc, Gyáni Gábor akadémikus, Kardos András, Kenyeres Zoltán DSc, Krausz Tamás DSc, Mesterházi Miklós CSc, Székely Mária és Tallár Ferenc DSc.            

A LANA Szelényi Iván fővédnökségével nemzetközi védnökséget hoz létre, s a hazai és nemzetközi tudományos világhoz fordul, hogy adományokkal segítse céljainak elérését. A kuratórium a lehető legrövidebb időn belül tárgyalásokat kezdeményez az MTA elnökével és más partnerszervezetekkel az együttműködés lehetőségeiről és teendőiről.

– Hónapok óta nem hallani a marxista filozófus Lukács György archívumáról. A sajtó egy része arról írt, hogy az MTA bezárja az archívumot. Mi történt valójában?
– Lukács György egykori lakása felújításra szorul, emiatt az archívumot véges időn belül el kell költöztetni.
A végrendelet szerint a kéziratok az Akadémia irattárának a tulajdonába kerültek. Ezeket az irattárba szeretnénk vinni, ahol digitalizálják és megfelelően tárolják majd a dokumentumokat. A könyvtár az MTA Filozófiai Intézet tulajdona, amiről az intézet gondoskodik. Többen támogatják egy emlékhely létesítését, de ez profilidegen az Akadémiától. Ha valaki megfelelő hasznosítási ötlettel áll elő, nem zárkózunk el a tárgyalások elől. Ám ha nem érkezik észszerű javaslat, a lakást visszaadjuk az önkormányzatnak. Az MTA egy szomszédos lakást is bérel, amelyet semmi okunk fenntartani. Azt mindenképpen felszámoljuk.

The Legacy of Georg Lukács: An International Conference

CALL FOR PAPERS

The work of Georg Lukács shaped many of the central debates of twentieth-century thought, from politics to philosophy and aesthetics. His ideas once stood at the very center of the historical and ideological conflicts of twentieth century. A progenitor of critical theory, philosopher of extraordinary originality and intellectual power, and a controversial aesthetician and literary critic, Lukács’ work still possesses relevance to our current debates and ideas. Central to his work was a deepening of a humanistic critique of capitalism

With the collapse of communism, the weakening of the influence of Marxism and the emergence and proliferation of postmodern culture, the conditions of reception of the legacy of Lukács have changed significantly. This has only been accentuated by the attacks against his person and his work, as lastly by the announcement of the closing down of the Lukács Archives in Budapest.

This international conference will seek to examine, expand, and explore Lukács’ ideas and their continued relevance for contemporary thought. How do Lukács’ ideas retain their salience and importance amid current philosophical and theoretical debates no less than the global dominance of capitalist culture that he so decisively critiqued?

We would like to raise the question of the contemporary validity of Lukács’ legacy: which aspects of his thought can be regarded as leading ideas for us in philosophy, aesthetics, literary history, the human sciences in general, but not least in politics? How do his central ideas help make sense of a globalized world shot through with commodification, consumerism, political defeatism and the emergence of irrational tendencies in politics, left and right?

These are some of the questions and themes that this conference, to be held in Budapest in the spring of 2017, proposes to discuss.

We invite abstracts for individual papers as well as whole panels for this conference to be held April 27-29 2017. Themes and topics are open, but should focus on the continued salience and importance of Lukács’ ideas and work for contemporary debates in the social sciences, philosophy, politics, and literature and the humanities. Papers should be prepared for 15-20 minute presentation. Please send any abstracts and/or panel proposals to the conference organizers below. The deadline for submission will be February 28 2017.

International Conference on Georg Lukács in Budapst, April 27–29, 2017

Eötvös Loránd University and Central European University host an international conference in Budapest entitled, “The Legacy of Georg Lukács.” The conference aims to reiterate the intellectual heritage of this great Hungarian philosopher, to demonstrate its relevance throughout the ages, and thereby to protest against current governmental measures that jeopardize the survival of the Lukács Archive and have resulted in the removal of Lukács’ statue from Szent István Park. Approximately one hundred researchers will come to Budapest—from, among other countries, China, Japan, the United States, Brazil, and Germany—to give lectures reflecting upon the intellectual oeuvre of one of the central philosophers of the twentieth century, an outstanding figure in the legacy of Hungarian intelligentsia.
